What does online learning look like?

Online learning can come in many different forms – from modules that cover several weeks of learning to short courses that give you a brief introduction to a subject, to small pieces of micro-learning that come in the form of an infographic or mobile application. What you need to create for your learning will depend on the message you need to share, the demographic of learners you are creating for, and the learning journey you need to guide them through.

Below you can find examples of different kinds of learning experiences to help you develop your ideas of your own online learning journeys.

An introduction to Japanese writing systems

A short introductory course for learners that are new to Japanese writing systems. The course was created using a mix of Articulate Rise, Articulate Storyline and Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. The course is split into two lessons:

  • Lesson 1 introduces learners to the different writing systems in Japanese, romaji, hiragana, katakana and kanji
  • Lesson 2 shows learners how the different writing systems are used together, as well as how to write Japanese characters.

The lesson also comes with downloads learners can print to practice reading and writing in Japanese, and resources they can use to further their learning.

A love letter to the online Japanese learning community that looked after me all those years ago.
